MICRONEEDLING

Updated: Feb 9

How does Microneedling work?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that’s used to treat various skin concerns via collagen production. By creating micro wounds to the skin which triggers our body's healing response to then produce new skin cells, collagen and elastin.

Microneedling is a great procedure to think about if you experience any of the following concerns:

  • Acne scars

  • Age spots

  • Loss of firmness and elasticity

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Large pore size

  • Uneven tone and texture

  • Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation

Are there any risks or side effects?

Like all cosmetic procedures, Microneedling may have side effects. The most common side effect is minor skin irritation immediately following the procedure. You may also see redness for a few days as well as dry skin. Most clients find very minimal downtime.

Pre and post care:

Your skin will look red and may feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. The redness and warmth should subside after 24 hours. You may notice some dryness as the skin goes through the healing process. Apply the discussed home care your medical aesthetician has recommended, and you must wear sunscreen daily starting 24 hours post treatment. Avoid retinol and certain acids (such as salicylic acid) for 5-7 days post treatment.

Am I a good candidate for this treatment?

Microneedling is safe for all skin types, but there are some contraindications. Unfortunately we cannot treat anyone who is pregnant or breast-feeding. We also cannot treat any who are prone to hypertrophic or keloid scarring. During your complimentary consultation we will go over your medical history and ensure you are an appropriate candidate for treatment.
