Pigmentation
+ Dark Spots

What is pigmentation and what causes it?
Pigmentation is the term used to describe dark patches on the skin.
Pigmentation is caused by an excess production of melanin. Melanin is what gives our skin its colour and is produced by skin cells called melanocytes. Sun exposure and hormone changes are the main causes of this increase in melanin. The best prevention against pigmentation is sunscreen. Sunscreen should be worn every day, January to December.
