About Microneedling

Microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device (a pen) that houses a disposable cartridge containing fine needles. With a series of treatments, there is visual improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, surface pigmentation, and pore size. Since microneedling doesn’t use heat, it is safe for all types all year round.

How it works

The pen uses needles to create a controlled wound in the skin. This triggers a repair response by the body to ‘fill’ these wounds, which stimulates collagen and elastin. Through this process, there is visual improvement in texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pigmentation, and pore size.

Depending on the skin concerns and goals, the amount of treatments will vary from person to person. We always recommend a minimum of 3 to 6 sessions per person.  During your free consultation we will customize a treatment plan based on your goals.

A topical prescription strength numbing is applied prior to your microneedling session to ensure the treatment is very comfortable.

Pricing varies depending on your skin concerns and how many treatments you will require. Please book a consultation to go over details.

Is there any downtime or any restrictions post treatment?

Your skin will look red and may feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. The redness and warmth should subside after 24 hours. You may notice some dryness as the skin goes through the healing process. Apply the discussed home care (our favourite is the Alumier Recovery Balm), and you must wear sunscreen daily starting 24 hours post treatment. Avoid retinol and certain acids (such as salicylic acid) for 5-7 days post treatment.

Am I a good candidate for treatment?

Microneedling is safe for all skin types, but there are some contraindications. Unfortunately we cannot treat anyone who is pregnant or breast-feeding. We also cannot treat any who is prone to hypertrophic or keloid scarring. During your free consultation we will go over your medical history and ensure you are an appropriate candidate for treatment.
